Catechism (CCD)

“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”Our goal is to provide age appropriate faith groups for all children in our community. We continue to support our children and families while strengthening our efforts and commitment to the total faith development and education of the children in St. Jude Syro Malabar Catholic Mission. Religious education program is offered in our parish on Sundays, for kids starting from the age of 18 months up to 18 years from September through May. They also learn about ethical values such as obeying their parents, learning to pray and care for each other, and above all develop the fear of Lord from a very tender age. We help children to unlock their potential to understand and experience God’s love in their own way as well as to be a channel of love to their friends and family.

Curriculum

“Faith First Series” text books which follow the Arlington diocese catechism guidelines are used in our education. In addition to that our dedicated teachers come up with projects and activities to keep the children engaged.

Student Responsibilities

The students are expected to attend the classes regularly and participate in the activities and projects. Attendance is taken in each class. Students are evaluated regularly based on their Christian behavior and academic excellence.

Fees

The catechism program is free of cost. A small fee to cover the expense of the textbooks and craft items is collected from the participants.

Catechist Volunteer Opportunities

The parish places a high value on the religious education and strongly invites committed adults to serve as catechists and assistants. Volunteers in parish programs must attend a Virtus training seminar for which you must register online at www.virtus.org. You must also submit a set of forms, which includes a background check. For more information, please contact the Coordinator of Religious Education.

Come and listen to me, my children, for I will teach you to walk in the fear of our Lord
